North Chamber Combines with Area Commerce
Due to financial difficulties, the North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce shut down last Friday. It opened in 2006, so that members could have more room to do their work. There were more offices and space to spread out. Now, they are forced to transition back into the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce.
Beside the financials, it made more sense for all members of the Chamber to work under one roof. They can better serve the community if they are together as one organization, instead of the previous two. In addition, saving money on the other building will contribute to more money for technology, and also more value to the business.
According to AZCentral.com, The North Scottsdale chamber was having difficulty retaining members and making enough money to pay rent and staff. Another problem was that the public no longer was relying on the chamber for information about member businesses, turning to Internet sources instead. In the end, this was probably the best decision they could have made for the economy, and the surrounding area.
