Cool Down in the Hot City at The Ice Den Skating Arena
The Ice Den, located in Scottsdale, is now the hot new place to cool down in the city. Usually, a practice center for the Phoenix Coyotes, this venue allows families to enjoy figure skating year round. Arizona can get pretty hot during the summer, and this is one sure way to get out of the scorching sun.
Ages 16 or older is $8 for two hours. Ages 6-15 and 55 or older, $6. Skate rental is $4 for hockey and figure skates for both age groups. Children 5 or younger $5, includes rental skates. Special Friday night pricing $9, includes skates, and special Family Nights feature $8 admission, including skates.
It is ideal to attend The Ice Den on Fridays since it is an inexpensive way to have a fun weekend night out. After spending days out in the bright sun escaping to an ice rink will give families a chance to experience both types of climates, without having to live in a real winter setting.
Grab a bite to eat after skating at the Over Easy Restaurant or at 18 Degrees, a neighborhood grill, located right inside the arena. Some even enjoy sitting out in the lounge to watch the ice skaters fly around the rink, providing some excellent entertainment anytime of the week.
Hours can vary from day to day, so make sure and check the monthly calendar on their website www.coyotesice.com. For the most part, hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursdays and Saturdays/Sundays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
