Arizona MusicFest Inspires Children to Be Creative and Appreciate Music

The main goal of the Arizona Musicfest has been to bring music education to students in the Cave Creek Unified School District, in Scottsdale, over the past few years. Introducing their ukulele program has inspired much interest in the children, and the organization brought in a pop star to demonstrate the instrument!

These fifth-graders from both Desert Sun Academy and Horseshoe Trails Elementary School got to play their own ukuleles with musician Jake Shimabukuro. He recently performed at the Musicfest lineup, winning the hearts of many fans! Ukeleles are becoming popular in schools because they are easy to play, inexpensive and the children can play together.

A nonprofit organization, the Arizona Musicfest is involved in a number of activities throughout the Scottsdale region. They have an annual winter music festival that draws more and more people each year! Since the program started four year ago, they have donated over 100 instruments to the school districts.
