Community Files: Be a Centennial ‘Snow Hero’

If you’re looking for a way to give a little back to your community, then you should grab a shovel this winter season and participate in Centennial’s Snow Hero program.

The Snow Hero program encourages residents and businesses to clear snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots on and near their properties.

“Entering its third winter season, the Centennial Snow Hero initiative was created in response to community input on the need for snow removal, especially in business parks and multi-family residential buildings,” a city press release says. “Centennial does not currently have a snow removal ordinance but encourages all citizens to voluntarily shovel walks directly in front of, within, and adjacent to their property within 24 hours of a snow storm.”

The city will recognize those who participate, and businesses, organizations and citizens can also be nominated as a “Centennial Snow Hero.”
