Centennial Kids are Kicking it into Gear

5th Gear Kids is a great program within the Cherry Creek District that has come up with fun ways for your kids to stay active!

5th Gear’s goal is to teach healthy habits to children so they have the skills to achieve lifelong health, prevent obesity and improve academic performance. This empowers kids to become ambassadors of health to their peers and families, along with learning how to be healthy consumers in today’s world.

A great feature to this program is the 5th Gear Kids Card, each child in the program received their own card which keeps track of the points they’ve earn for each active they completed.  In return they can use the points they earned towards prizes and get discounts at local participating restaurants and recreation facilities. Their families are also able to use the card for a 10% discount on all Private Selection foods at King Soopers.

So from boot camp and bowling to yoga and zumba, 5th Gear Kids are finding out how much fun being active can be.  They’re learning that balancing fun physical activity with a nutritious diet gives them energy and helps them stay healthy.
