New and Improved Philip S. Miller Park is Coming Along
The new Philip S. Miller Park, in Castle Rock, is really coming along since construction began a year ago. Next, they will be installing a new playground for children to enjoy in the community. This is going to be an exciting addition to the neighborhood with the athletic field and lights completed already.
According to the Castle Rock News-Press article, Parks and Recreation director Rob Hanna explained that the park should be done in late October or November. Construction of the field house, pool and locker rooms are still in the process of being finished. Also, synthetic turf is scheduled to be laid in the next few weeks.
The new park is going to have a lot of things for Castle Rock residents to enjoy. After the playing field is complete, the adventure playground is being installed this summer. According to the article, the playground will be integrated into the natural landscape overlooking the park athletic field and situated along the park’s trail system.
Three acres of the park are dedicated to this gigantic playground. Hillside slides, swings, spinning elements, uphill ladder bridges, climbing nets, exploration trails, picnic tables, concrete paths, grassy picnic areas and trees satisfy both the locals and their children. Everything is positioned in a certain way to fit the natural landscape of Philip S. Miller Park, along with the connecting trails.
Located in the southern valley of the park, also known as the Kinetic Canyon area, the new play area is adjacent to the athletic field. There is also talk of creating a fitness-oriented stair climbing course that will be a part of the 225-acre park. “Fitness has become a real extreme sport almost in its own and a lot of people like to do these activities outside,” said Hanna in the recent article. “People use the stair at Red Rocks for all these fitness training and things like that.”
