Castle Rock Man Awarded Highest Honor After Recent Visit to Japan
Now in his 70s, local Castle Rock celebrity Isao “Kami” Kamitani has received the highest honor from the emperor of Japan! Recently retired and watching over his sick wife, Kami has lived in the community for most of his life. After traveling to Japan last November, things have been a little different for him and his family,
The Imperial Palace in Japan is where Emperor Akihito resides. Kami has achieved many awards over the years with his work as a scientist, playwright, educator, and many other hats that he has worn. His contributions to both the Castle Rock area and Japan shows high motivation, and selflessness as he helped them gain economical growth!
Kami was given the Order of the Rising Sun decoration, a Japanese achievement that has been given to exceptional people since 1875. When he returned to Colorado after his trip, the Castle Rock residents recognized him as true celebrity! Even Denver Mayor Michael Hancock proclaimed December 17th as Isao “Kami” Kamitani Day.
