Shepard Earns Avon Community Schools ‘Teacher of the Year’

Joined by more than 450 of her fellow staff members, Christy Shepard of Avon Community Schools, was recently named Teacher of the Year. Shepard teaches fifth-graders at Avon Intermediate School West.

 

“Mrs. Shepard’s passion and capability for teaching students with exceptional needs is evident in her culturally responsive, rigorous and engaging classroom,” ACSC Superintendent Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Hoernermann said in the Flyer Group newspaper. “She is a master at cooperative learning, project based design, differentiating instruction and behavior management.”

 

In addition to a special plaque of recognition, Shepard received an award from the Sharon Pinnick Educational Fund, a check from the Avon Rotary Club, a gift card from A+ Teaching Supplies and a beautiful bouquet provided by Flowered Occasions.
