One Hour a Day One Child at a Time

The 1-1-1 Partnership Program helps community members with their students in Avon schools, in order to support their academic needs. Some children and teens in the area can’t afford to get the extra education they want and/or need from public schools. They need the help outside of that environment to continue and learn.

Volunteers can sign up to help educate these students outside the classroom on a more personal level. They will meet with the same three students weekly to build lesson plans and create comprehension learning techniques. The volunteers spend their extra time trying to bring fun into education with interests, talents, travels, and other hobbies the students might be interested in.

Each volunteer for the Avon 1-1-1 program goes through an investigative background check, and a 90-minute training session to ensure they are prepared to commit to these students in need. Training dates coming up include Jan. 21, 2014, and Feb. 18, 2014. Sessions are held three times each day from 7 to 8:30 a.m., 10:30 to noon, and 6 to 7 p.m. For more information or to register, call 317-544-5555.
