Indy Jazz Festival Promotes Music History and Future Performers

Jazz music lovers can look forward to the annual Indy Jazz Fest happening September 11-20 in downtown Indianapolis.

The theme for this year’s festival is “All About Town”, the 10-day event is well attended, drawing thousands of people to venues throughout the city. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at The Jazz Kitchen or online at www.indyjazzfest.net.

“This started in Indianapolis because we wanted to celebrate the jazz history of Indianapolis,” Artistic Director Rob Dixon said in the article. “There have been so many greats that have come from Indianapolis. It’s a huge heritage of jazz. They helped shape what jazz is and was today.”

Hosted by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, the festival is meant to preserve the legacy of the wonderful musical genre and also promote the future of jazz through education and performance. For more information visit their website at www.indyjazzfest.net.
