Avon Wrestlers Walk Away Complete Victors at Sections Last Weekend
The Avon High School wrestling team won sections last Saturday, after a two-year drought! The Orioles competed with the best in Indiana, and walked away champions. Finishing the day with eight awards, as well as sending 10 grapplers to the finals, and 14 wrestlers to regionals! Not a bad day for high school sports.
Taking first place with an impressive score of 275.50, and Brownsburg trailing far behind at 197.50, Avon‘s wrestling team is walking tall these days! There couldn’t have been a better day for these guys, they fought hard and earned the title. Ranking first has them in high hopes for taking nationals.
Some of the big winners of the day were: Shane Dillehay, who took down well-known, undefeated South Putnam wrestler Rudy Harris. Freshmen Gunnar Larson followed the previous impressive performance along with Guy Henson and a few other important contributors. The regional meet begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Mooresville, with the finals scheduled to start in the early afternoon.
