Avon Swims for the Pink Ribbon

Avon’s swim teams promoted Breast Cancer Awareness last week by wearing their pink swim attire, along with swimming their best times. The pool was all shades of pink from the boys’ and the girls’ racing down the floating lines as fast as they could. It was called a “Pink Out”, and the fans participated as well.

Both teams split the meet in half. While the boys’ took a 120-53 win, the girls’ didn’t do as well with a 108-77 loss. According to the Hendricks County Flyer, the coach was a little uneasy about the split meet, “As a group we were just a little bit off,” Avon coach Jon Karr said. “I’m not exactly sure, but we will sit and talk about why we were not as good as we’ve been this season. We always have meets like this every now and again.”

Now the Avon teams turn their energy towards the December 21st meet. Although they are exhausted from the hard work they performed for Breast Cancer Awareness, both the girls and boys will be ready to go Saturday.
