Record Number Valedictorians Graduate from Desert Vista
Ahwatukee can be proud of their 2014 high school graduates this year. There was record number of 12 valedictorians, with previous years achieving six. Desert Vista’s students tied in the highest grade point averages making it a wonderful year for education in this Arizona community.
“The students tied in rank points and it is tradition at Desert Vista to allow the valedictorians to speak at graduation, ” said Christine Barela, assistant principal registrar, in the Ahwatukee Foothills News article. Each graduate was allowed to speak to their classmates at the upcoming ceremony for roughly two minutes. Being able to express the value of a good education was a priceless moment for these 12 individuals.
The 12 valedictorians are: Saheba Bhatnagar, Hailey Dickson, Gina Han, Paula Li, Akhila Murella, Joann Nam, Varsha Parthasarathy, Rajeev Parvathala, Jeeho “Helen” Sung, Meagan Tran, Jessica Tueller and Joyce Yang. This outstanding number of bright seniors are ready to walk across the stage with promising futures.
“Desert Vista’s valedictorians challenge their peers appropriately to enter a new chapter in their lives with hope and inspiration,” said Dr. Anna Battle in the recent article, it’s her last year as principal at Desert Vista and was excited to hear from each student at the ceremony.
Graduation was at Ahwatukee‘s Desert Vista’s football field last Thursday with hundreds of onlooking families, peers and school staff.
