Phoenix Symphony Director Visits Desert Vista High School Orchestra

Desert Vista High School’s chamber orchestra got a treat last week when the music director of the Phoenix Symphony dropped by.

According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, Phoenix Symphony Music Director Tito Munoz not only visited the 24-student orchestra, but he directed one of its class rehearsals.

Munoz wanted to come after learning the orchestra is one of only six high school string orchestras invited to play at the 70th annual Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago in December, the article said. That event will reportedly attract 17,000 attendees, including band and orchestra directors from all 50 states and at least 40 nations.

The students were thrilled and grateful that Munoz took the time to visit with them.
