Mountain Pointe Graduate Working on Groundbreaking Communication Device

Mountain Pointe High School graduate Ajay Karpur is working on a wearable device that communicates entirely through touch, according to the Ahwatukee Foothills News.

Karpur is one of three people working on the device, which is called Moment.

“[Moment is] a device that enables users to draw shapes and patterns on their wrist with precise vibrations,” the newspaper wrote. “Moment will offer GPS navigation, caller identification, notifications, alerts and time augmentation.”

The device connects to an Android phone or tablet, as well as an iPhone or iPad through Bluetooth Low Energy.

“Users choose what’s important to them, subscribing to information and notifications from their favorite apps and websites, and determining how they want to get notified of new messages and phone calls,” the newspaper explained.

Karpur and his team are launching a Kickstarter campaign in August to raise funds to make the product. They’re planning to ship the device in December if they can reach their $150,000 goal.
