Ladies Football Game Raises Money for Relay for Life

Desert Vista High School senior and junior girls faced off in a ladies game of football Feb. 8 to raise money for Relay for Life. More than $1,600 was raised.

According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, more than 100 people purchased tickets and showed up to cheer on the girls as they played.

“We wanted to raise money for it and I wanted to do something fun that could get the community involved,” Sanjana Ramesh, a senior at Desert Valley and chair of the sponsorship committee for the Desert Vista Relay for Life, told Ahwatukee Foothills News. “I remember during football season some of the girls were talking about getting the girls together to play for fun. I thought why not make that happen and raise money for a good cause, too?”

The funds raised at the football event will be combined with anything else raised during the actual Relay for Life event, which is set for March 28 at Desert Vista High School.
