Kyrene’s Inaugural Community Play Day Set for Jan. 24

Kyrene Community Education and Outreach Services is getting ready for its first Kyrene Community Play Day, which is set for Saturday, Jan. 24.

According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, the event is an effort to highlight the numerous after-school programs that the district offers it K-8 students.

“We are creating this event to be a celebration of play with an emphasis on safety, fun and fitness,” Pete Flocken, program manager for Kyrene’s Community Education and Outreach Services, told the Ahwatukee Foothills News. “Kyrene schools are the hub of the community and we are dedicated to providing fun, new and memorable experiences for our families.”

At the event, parents will be able to sort of shop around and see which program would be the best fit for their children. At this point, about 40 different programs will be put on display during the event and some will be holding mock activities, the Ahwatukee Foothills News reported.

The play day runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Kyrene Aprende Middle School, 777 N. Desert Breeze Blvd. For more information, go to www.kyrene.org. To read the full Ahwatukee Foothills News story, click here.
