Kyrene Foundation Delivers $10K in Gifts to Students in Need

The Kyrene Foundation made this Christmas a little brighter for many students and families in the Kyrene School District. The foundation arrived at the district’s warehouse last week with more than $10,000 in gifts for students who’s families may not have been able to afford them, according to Ahwatukee Foothills News.

The donation was part of the foundation’s Winter Wonderland event.

“Holiday gifts may not be naturally connected with academic achievement, but the holiday season is a time of great stress for a lot families, particularly families that are financially strapped, and it is known to us that when family stress is reduced parental engagement is higher and students will be feeling more secure and happy at home allowing them to focus on their academics,” Amanda Nosbisch, board member for the Kyrene Foundation, told the newspaper.
