Five Nonprofits Come Together to Donate Backpacks
Five grass-roots organizations worked together to get over 100 backpacks, full of school supplies, ready for children in need. About 30 volunteers helped get students prepared for the school year in Ahwatukee and surrounding cities.
According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News article, the bags will go to kids, ages 4 to 18, that attend two area learning centers. Volunteers came from Arizona Neighborhood Transformation, From Gangs to Jobs, Learning with Play, the Guadalupe Learning Center and a Bible study group from Mountain Park Community Church joined in on the selfless project.
“Without donations, without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do this,” said Marina Gonzales, director of the Guadalupe Learning Center in the recent article.
Without the help of these nonprofit organizations students wouldn’t have the necessary supplies for the school year, leaving them unprepared and vulnerable. Thankfully, the community wants to see these young students succeed.
