Cello Student Yulee Kim to Play at Carnegie Hall Next Month
Local Ahwatukee resident Yulee Kim has been selected as a performer at Carnegie Hall on February 9th. She has been practicing even more frequently now, since the pressure is on to perform her best at this historic New York theater. Mastering the cello for the past five years, Kim placed All-State last spring.
According to the Ahwatukee Foothill News, Kim feels confident that she will perform well, “It felt really refreshing because I worked really hard on my solos and my skills to get in, and I was shocked because Carnegie Hall is a really big place that I thought I wouldn’t be able to play at,” She said.
Beside being excited for the actual performance, where she gets to perform with other students her age that play the cello, Kim gets to see New York for the first time. Having spent most of her life in Ahwatukee, this will be a big change in scenery!
