Ahwatukee YMCA Offers Free Swimming Lessons to Children Living in Apartments
Ahwatukee children who live in apartment complexes can get free swim lessons in September.
According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, the Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA is offering the free lessons as part of drowning awareness month, which was in August. The free lessons are available through October.
Sandra Franks, the executive director of the YMCA, told the newspaper the organization tries to do something every year to mark drowning awareness month.
This year we are focusing on apartment complexes, she told the newspaper, and said the YMCA has people in the community visiting apartment complexes delivering vouchers for the lessons.
A typical lesson is about 35 minutes long, according.
