Ahwatukee School Districts Receive ‘A’ in Excellence
According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News article, the Arizona Department of Education released its 2013-2014 letter grades for schools across the state, and the Kyrene and Tempe Union High school districts and Horizon Community Learning Center all received an overall “A” grade.
This is a first for the Ahwatukee school district – all six schools received the top grades in the state. Schools such as Corona del Sol, Desert Vista, McClintock, Mountain Pointe, Tempe High and Marcos de Niza – each received an “A”.
This is the fourth year for the state letter grades, which is one measure of a school’s achievement, according to a statement released by the district. Every high school in Ahwatukee has shown great improvement over the past few years and it is official.
“We are proud of the work our schools have done to either maintain their ‘A’ grade or improve their grade to an ‘A’ without compromising the rigor of our instructional program,” said Dr. Kenneth Baca, superintendent of Tempe Union High School District, in the recent article. “We will continue to grow and improve in our mission of excellence in teaching and learning.”
The Ahwatukee districts plan on continuing to strive for excellence in their educational programs. They have definitely earned the recognition, and the teachers are still known as the state’s best.
