Ahwatukee Preschool Celebrates 35 Years in the Community

Thousands of young students later, Ahwatukee Preschool is now celebrating its 35th year as part of the community.

According to Ahwatukee Foothills News, the preschool was opened in 1980 by Pastor Don Schneider of Mountain View Lutheran Church to provide community members a local option for their children.

“He thought people needed a place for people to bring their children and get to know each other. He started the preschool with one class and from there it grew to now thousands [who] have gone through over the years,” Diane Fitzsimons, the director of the school, told the newspaper.

Alumni joined community members and staff on Feb. 21 to celebrate the milestone birthday.

The school is located at Mountain View Lutheran Church at 11002 S. 498th St. Read more here.
