Ahwatukee Foothills Ballet’s ‘The Nutcracker’ Opens Dec. 19
If you’ve been waiting all year to see The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy on stage, then you’re in luck. The Ahwatukee Foothills Ballet is opening the curtains on its 15th production of the classic ballet “The Nutcracker” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19.
According to the company’s website, the show is almost entirely performed by young dancers from ages 3 to 22. Here’s a little more information about the show and the ballet company:
“A wonderful holiday tradition for the entire family, the Ahwatukee Foothills Nutcracker Ballet celebrates 15 years of bringing the magic of Christmas to the Valley as one of the country’s only productions of this classic produced entirely with young dancers as the cast. In 2000, Kimberly Lewis created the Ahwatukee Foothills Nutcracker Ballet and under the direction of Ballet Artistic Director Jill Hammond. Now, as then, the ballet is performed by talented young dancers from around the Valley.”
In addition to the opening night performance, you can catch the show at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. Also, a special appearance by Santa Claus will take place after the 2 p.m. show.
