Ahwatukee Couple Completes Year-Long Running Challenge
Ahwatukee couple Sarah and Laustin Woods recently completed a running challenge during which they ran at least one mile every single day for a year.
According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, the couple came across the website for the United States Running Streak Association (USRSA) at the end of 2014 and wanted to become members—but membership only comes to those who run at least a mile every day for a year. On Jan. 1, 2015 the couple set their sights on membership, and on Dec. 31, 2015 they reached their goal.
“There were days when our legs were pretty sore or we were sick,” Sarah Woods told the newspaper. “We ran in snow and rain, and triple digits during the summer with 30-degree temperatures during the winter.”
Through sickness, soreness and vacations in multiple states, the couple made their goal. In all, the couple ran more than 1,000 miles each.
