Ahwatukee Bowl Trophy Honors Rivalry Between Town’s Two Football Teams

This year, when Ahwatukee’s two high schools—Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe—played football, there was a trophy up for grabs.

According to the Ahwatukee Foothills News, the winner of this year’s game was presented with the Ahwatukee Bowl Trophy, which honors the 20-year tradition of the two teams playing.

Mountain Pointe won the trophy this year, beating Desert Vista by a score of 27-13.

The trophy, which is sponsored by the newspaper, is engraved with each year’s winner and the score, and will be displayed throughout the year at the winning school until the next year’s bowl game, the article said.

The winners of the last 20 Ahwatukee Bowl games also will be engraved on the trophy to create a lasting tribute to Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe high schools’ varsity football teams, according to the story.
